queer joy

My name is Kimaya, and I’m a trans person of color. Visually, many of my artworks feature a blend of pastel colors, with a distinct focus on hues of blue and pink (as an homage to the trans flag), and a healthy dose of whimsy. My artwork explores queer subculture, and is often a personal or political statement. As an artist, my strength is using my works to help showcase marginalized groups in a powerful light. My hope is that with my art, I can show the world that queerness and happiness are not mutually exclusive, and that there is power in the blur between what society deems feminine and masculine.
